Customizing System Properties pictures

Probebly you have seen some links that have tutorials about changing "System Properties"
view,all of them that i had seen,just talk about changing one picture in this window But
There are two pictures that you can change and customize.Please take a look at mine at
attachment picture.

1. Make your favorite picture (152x114x24b BMP) for example as picture (1) in attachment
and name it "OEMLOGO.BMP",then copy it to your ...\system32 directory.
Now if you go to control panel and double click on "system",you will see that your
picture is shown in down side/left of "System Properties" window (in tab general tab).

2. For changing the picture in upside/left of this window,Make your favorite picture as
picture (2) in attachment.Note that you can use a several sizes here,in this example i used
"128x128x24b BMP (see figure(2) in attachment).
Now,first make a backup of your ...\system32\ sysdm.cpl file some where,then do as below:

Open sysdm.cpl by reshack (or your favorite program),go to BitMap section, and changes
bitmap number 1 as you see in picture (4) in attachment,then save it.Now if you put
this file in in your ...\system32\ directory,then run "system" in contol panel,you will
see work is done OK.

Ofcourse you can do some more customizing by this file,but for this tutor that's all.

Install xp from HD, just like from CD

I'm going to install xp on a notebook without cd, I find a very easy way to do it, same as install from a xp setup_cd.

Here is:

1. Boot system with LiveXP from USB, flash disk or any else

2. Partition your disk, make sure your C is actived and format with NTFS

3. Copy i386 from USB(grab from your setup CD) to c:\, rename c:\i386 to c:\$win_nt$.~bt

4. Copy c:\$win_nt$.~bt\setupldr.bin to c:\, rename c:\setupldr.bin to c:\ntldr, if you format c: with compression like me usually done, decompressed c:\ntldr

5. Copy c:\$win_nt$.~bt\ntdetect.com to c:\

6. Copy c:\$win_nt$.~bt\txtsetup.sif to c:\

7. Make c:\i386 as a hardlink of c:\$win_nt$.~bt with "junction.exe" (a tool from SysInternals), command line:
junction c:\i386 c:\$win_nt$.~bt

8. Modify c:\$win_nt$.~bt\winnt.sif if exist
[Data]
floppyless=1
msdosinitiated=0
[SetupData]
SetupSourcePath="\"
SetupSourceDevice=\device\harddiskXX\partitionYY

XX, YY based on your disk partition, if C is 1st disk and 1st partition, then XX=0, YY=1

9. Reboot from hard disk, and setup will begin...

10. After setup, delete hardlink - c:\i386, command line:
junction -d c:\i386
Then you can delete c:\txtsetup.sif and c:\$win_nt$.~bt to make disk clean, or rename c:\$win_nt$.~bt to c:\i386 as a bak.

That's all, I have tested in a VM machine. And I used a 32bit-nlite-enu-vlk-XP.

The benefit of this way is:
You can install XP based on your custom cd(I think most have one), no need change, same as install from cd.(For me, with my 150M enu_nlite_XP, after setup, the regional and language are auto setted to chinese, not like install with winnt.exe from dos or winnt32.exe from PE, the regional always set to enu in unattended mode)_________________

In this tutorial I'm going to explain how to encode movies with MeGUI,
First your going to need a good source for your movie your wanting to encode,
Anything in the 700Mb xViD encoded range should be good...

First your going to need MeGUI

Install MeGUI run it and get it fully updated.
Then your going to need to download AviSynth,

Install AviSynth, Then your going to need Nero AAC (Audio Codec) its excellent for compression,

Install Nero ACC executable files in the MeGUI folder which is;

#/Program files/meGUI

Restart your PC,

Start up MeGUI once its loaded press "CTRL+R", That will open "AVISynth Script Creator"



1. Select the source movie you want to encode.
2. Make sure "Resize" Is UNTICKED.
3. Click save and save the script.



1. The AVS file you just made should already be selected if not then select it.
2. If the OUTPUT of the encoded file isn't pre defined define it now.
3. Make sure the Codec is set at "x264"
4. Make sure "MKV" is selected as the file container.
5. Select "HQ-Slower" as the video profile.
6. Select the original video source as the audio input.
7. If the audio output isn't yet defined define it now.
8. Select "NDAAC-HE-64Kbps" as the audio profile it provides perfect compression to bitrate ratio.
9. Select "ND AAC" as the codec
10. Select "MP4-AAC" as the audio extension.
11. Press "AutoEncode.



1. Select the container as "MKV"
2. Define your desired output of the encoded movie
3. Make sure the file size radio button is selected, And define the file size as 300MB or 400MB depending

on the length of the movie (Try to get the bitrate at 450ish)
4. Select "Queue"
5. Go to the Queue tab once your back on the main MeGUI page and select "Start down the bottum, It will ask

if you want to create a worker, Create one.

And that's how you do it guys....

Only problem is for weak pcs as it will take about 3 hours
