check your internet connection speed instantly-try now

Are you trying to play any games that require Microsoft Live? Games for Windows Live is a pretty cool service, but it can also cause a lot of trouble. Sometimes Windows 7 and Vista will give you some weird errors, e.g. that xinput1_3.dll or xlive.dll is missing.

This is a description what you can do to fix the problem.

Download xinput1_3.dll

First of all, you should download the dll file “xinput1_3.dll”:
Download xinput1_3.dll

I’ve uploaded it to our server, so that it will be available whenever you read this post.
Make sure to copy the xinput1_3.dll into your game folder, as well as your Windows/system32 folder.
Note: When the dll file is inside the game folder it will try to use this dll first. If it’s not there it will look into the system folder.

Install Games for Windows Live

Next, the system might say that another dll is missing: xlive.dll.
I don’t recommend to put xlive.dll into the game folder, because I can’t guarantee that it will work. Instead you should download and install “Games for Windows Live”.

What is Internet connection speed?

Internet connection speed refers to the data transfer rate from the Internet to your computer. Basically that means the amount of time it takes your computer to download a given amount of data. Internet connection speeds are usually measured in Kbps (kilobits per second, or thousands of bits per second) or KBps (kilobytes per second). Nowadays with the technological improvements in data transfer speeds, Internet connection speeds can also be measured in Mbps (megabits per second, or millions of bits per second) or MBps (megabytes per second). For example, if you had a 28.8K (28,800 bps) modem, then it would take at least 4 - 5 minutes to download a 1MB file. If you had digital subscriber line (DSL), the same 1MB file would take approximately 10 - 20 seconds.

Reinstalling Windows XP without product activation

A topic of frequent discussion and concern in many online forums is Microsoft?s Product Activation, which is not limited to Windows XP, it is now required for many Microsoft products(e.g. MS Office).

Note: This will not enable you to install your copy of Windows XP on a different computer and bypass activation.

Isn?t it ridiculous that we need to contact Microsoft for "permission" if we choose to reinstall a product that we already legally own and use, and have "stamped" so before? This method of copyright protection has not exactly been a favourite among customers. Well, no worries, there is a trick for getting around product activation for Windows XP when reinstalling.

If you have successfully activated the OS already, and if you are reinstalling it on the existing hardware, this trick should do just fine. Here it is:

  1. Copy the file c:\windows\system32\wpa.dbl to a floppy.
  2. Reinstall Windows XP.
  3. Boot to a DOS disk if you are using FAT, or to the Recovery Console if using NTFS.
  4. Copy the file from the first step above back to c:\windows\system32.
  5. That?s it - because all of your hardware is the same as before, your copy of WinXP is still valid according to the previous activation.
That?s it. That should do it!
